Consistency is The Key

I have great news! There Is a way for Everyone to get in the best shape of their life.

It is not a particular diet or workout program, and no, it is not a magic pill. What works for one person, will not necessarily work for another. We are all different (thank goodness!), but there is One thing that works for everyone. Consistency!

Consistent eating habits, consistent workouts, consistent water consumption, even consistent sleep all lend themselves to being in the best shape of your life.

When we skip workouts it becomes to easy to fall out of the habit. Not properly hydrating robs us of the energy we need to power through tough workouts. Not getting enough sleep increases cortisol production in our bodies and will derail all good intentions we may have of leading a healthy lifestyle. Skipping meals, having a cheat day or days, and switching from diet to diet is not the answer.

I know I may catch a lot of flack for this statement, but here goes….I am not a fan of "cheat days".

Our bodies are always working to maintain homeostasis which is metabolic equilibrium. When we obtain homeostasis our bodies are able to work efficiently and perform properly. When you eat good all week, then pig out over the weekend, it takes time for our system to adjust. This is time that you could be running like a well oiled machine instead of trying to "catch up".

Now let me just say that I love food. I mean Really love food. Over time i have learned to stay away from the foods that don't love me back and to find healthier ways to prepare the foods that i don't want to give up entirely. It has not been easy, and I still struggle with making the right choice from time to time. But when I'm asked how I stay young, or how I workout so hard, or how I stay in good shape, I can honestly say that "Consistency Is The Key".

So get consistent, and Get Hot!

I really love this statement. This is exactly what everyone should be practicing. This journey that I am now taking with the world of kicKboxing is really challening for me but I love going to class and I actually get very mad if I miss a class

You are right on target! I feel so much better when I am working out 5 days a week (or more)!

Maybe this is the wrong blog but it is about consistency. Looking at the leader board, i see black belts with no reps and no wins. I see others with a tremendous amount of reps but no wins (I can see that is possible but no probable). I see white belts with over 10 wins. I'm just curious about how that happens. My tracking seems to work. Regarding consistency in practice: I missed three days over Christmas but I was skiing two of them. I really love the program and will be keeping up the practice. It is giving me great benefits.
